Benefits of copyright registration

1. You have the full weight of the law on your side if you are infringed.
2. If your images are registered timely with the US Copyright Office, then you have recourse to an award of attorney fees and statutory damages of up to $150,000 per infringement.
3. If your images are not registered, it is difficult to find an attorney to take on your claim in the US.
4. Out of court settlements are often substantially higher when the infringed image was registered timely.
5. You do not have to be a US citizen or resident to receive these protections when confronting US-based infringers.

ImageRights strongly recommends that you register your images

Upload your images to your account and provide us the information we need to complete that registration.

All copyright registrations are filed on your behalf, in your name, and are issued directly to you.

You do not have to be a US citizen.

We help you administer the registration by completing all of the correct forms with the correct information and submitting the completed forms with your images for registration. Once this process is completed, ImageRights notifies you by email that your registration has been submitted and received by the U.S. Copyright Office. This date becomes the registration date for your work. Once the registration has been approved, the US Copyright Office will physically mail the Certificate of Registration directly to you at the address you provide.
